Mission
Lotus Awards: Celebrating creative excellence in British Columbia.
History
The annual Lotus Awards is a competitive advertising awards show that
celebrates creative excellence in British Columbia. Established in 1989, the Lotus
Awards show was founded by the West Coast advertising community to recognize
outstanding creative work of individuals, companies and agencies in BC.
Originally just an "advertising" show, it has been expanded in recent years to
include design, interactive and direct mail.
The work is judged numerically on a 'best of' basis by a renowned group of
communications professionals from some of the most creative and innovative
agencies in the US. This is done traditionally to minimize any potential for
bias. Judges award a Lotus and merits in as many categories as possible
with one ultimate Lotus awarded for "Best in Show."
The Lotus Awards have undeniably helped put
British Columbia on the advertising map as a centre for creative excellence.
Campaigns that were first recognized in the show have gone on to be
seen in CA, Archive, The One Show, Marketing, Clio and Cannes.
The Lotus Awards provides an opportunity for Vancouver's business community
to see the superior creative work being produced locally, the standards for
excellence and the results outstanding creative work can have on their brands.
The Lotus Awards are open to any company or individual located in
British Columbia, engaged in creating and/or producing advertising. Check the
2008 results here and the 2009 web site can be found here:
